About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advise senior leadership on high-impact cases, providing strategic guidance and recommendations for appropriate resolution
- Serve as a key legal partner to business leaders, collaborating across functions to anticipate legal risks, support initiatives, and deliver timely, practical legal solutions
- Manage outside attorneys in all aspects of litigation facing the enterprise, including construction defects, personal injury, environmental, employment, land use, and contract disputes
- Manage matter-level financial responsibilities, including oversight of moderate outside counsel and settlement spend
- Assist in the preparation of litigation and risk reports to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors
- Prepare witnesses for deposition and trial
- Lead and mentor lower-level attorneys and legal professionals
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in the U.S.
- 10-15 years of relevant legal experience, preferably managing in-house litigation at a publicly traded corporation
- Experience advising executive leadership on complex legal, regulatory, and risk-management matters
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing legal teams and external counsel
- Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels, balancing legal risk with business growth
- Prior experience in a senior in-house legal role or comparable law firm position
