About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Execute substation physical and protection-and-control projects
Perform quality control checks on substation physical and P&C design projects
Read and design one-line, three-line, schematic, wiring, plan-section, conduit, and grounding drawings
Create and check bills of materials for substation physical and P&C designs
Support the complete project lifecycle from scoping through final design and implementation
Apply National Electrical Safety Code requirements to design processes
Implement client standards in project designs
Work with designers/drafters to create required project drawings
Occasionally attend site visits at customer locations
Maintain compliance with project scope, schedule, budget, quality control, and safe work practices
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and CAD technicians on the design team
Interact with internal teams and clients to meet project needs

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related degree
Eight (8+) or more years of related substation design experience
Experience executing substation physical and protection-and-control projects
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with internal teams and clients
Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Ability to collaborate and lead effectively in a team environment
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Compliance with quality control and safe work practices
Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification is an additional qualification
Professional Engineer (PE) License is an additional qualification
Working knowledge of protection and control design is an additional qualification
Experience with bus calculations, grounding studies, lightning protection, lighting studies, AC/DC calculations, WinIGS or CDEGS, CAD tools, field testing, or commissioning is an additional qualification
Master’s degree in a related field is an additional qualification
