About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serving as the technical lead for the design, implementation, and maintenance of VMware virtual infrastructure
Directing daily operations and tasking for a cross-functional team of 6 to 7 IT professionals
Managing operational workflows, approving timesheets, and coordinating shift/leave schedules
Acting as the primary technical escalation point for VMware-related issues
Deploying and maintaining VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machines
Performing regular maintenance, updates, and patches for the virtual infrastructure
Monitoring and optimizing virtual infrastructure performance, resource utilization, and system availability
Implementing and managing VMware networking components
Collaborating with teams and leadership to design and implement infrastructure solutions
Implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual machines

Requirements

What you’ll need

Requires BS and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience
Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification
Demonstrated proficiency in managing and troubleshooting VMware vSphere infrastructure
Proven experience in a task management or operational lead role
Experience with VMware technologies including ESXi, vCenter Server, vSAN, and vSphere Networking
Strong understanding of virtualization concepts, practices, and procedures
Ability to review, modify, and prepare comprehensive documentation for virtualization tasks
Excellent communication and project management skills.
