About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop computer programs, primarily using SAS/R to monitor data quality.
  • Prepare and present educational trainings about NHSN to professional organizations and governmental bodies at national, state, and local levels.
  • Assist/lead the development of new NHSN modules, providing subject matter expertise related to HAI surveillance and data validation.
  • Identify and create necessary NHSN module/manual updates resulting from technological advancements, infection/disease trends, or yearly update of system components.
  • Analyze data for reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Conduct user outreach and education and provide consultation and technical assistance to acute care provider groups, quality improvement organizations, and health departments in order to support their HAI prevention, surveillance, and response activities, and to meet NHSN data quality needs.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Public Health, or related quantitative or scientific discipline with 7+ years of relevant experience ; or Master’s degree MS, MPH, MSPH, or related field) with 5+ years of relevant experience in R (Proficient, Intermediate to Advanced)
  • Experience supporting public health surveillance, epidemiology, HAI prevention , population health, or healthcare data analytics initiatives.
  • Experience in analyzing, validating, and interpreting large public health or healthcare datasets.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in order to compile, organize, and present statistical information to various audiences as well as explain processes and choices as needed.
