About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare summary trip reports within two working days of trip completion.
- Perform on-site surveys to develop designs and detailed reports.
- Prepare construction drawings and prepare site-specific specifications and contract documents and independent cost estimates.
- Review contractor design and construction submittals.
- Provide timely responses for requests for information and project related submittals.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction project activities to meet milestones and deadlines working directly with stakeholders and contractors.
- Assist with strategic and tactical planning, monitoring, and evaluating progress, and providing advice and support.
- Compile and complete project documents.
- Provide technical engineering support for all phases of assigned new construction and renovation projects.
- Participate in Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) on all assigned projects and provide recommended resolutions on all items relating to engineering.
- Perform engineering studies for feasibility and cost versus benefit.
- Provide technical input to the Government Technical Interpreter in actions to plan, budget, program, and coordinate the development of engineering projects.
- Develop project drawings in accordance with the FAA Standard/guidelines.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Civil Engineering Degree required from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
- Minimum 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience as Project Engineer and/or Resident Engineer with Civil Engineering Design and experience with tower, shelter and similar structure projects.
- Knowledge of multiple of the following, Unstaffed Infrastructure Sustainment (UIS) facilities:
- Metal equipment towers
- Commercial/Industrial Structures
- Roof Replacements
- Emergency and battery backup systems
- Small HVAC systems
- Remote site work
- Road design
- Concrete Site grading
- Equipment shelters
- Concrete foundations
- Structural Environmental permitting (NEPA, ARAP, stormwater, etc)
- Lightning protection and grounding
- Hazmat (Pb, Asbestos) abatement
- Construction risk management
- Utility layout design: water, power, comm, sewer
- Knowledge of Project management software (CWP, Primavera, Microsoft project, etc) and/ or Computer aided design (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ProjectWise).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability.
- Prior FAA experience desired.
- Knowledge/Experience of Airports desired.
- Certified Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Registered Professional Engineer in good standing in the United States.
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
