About the role

  • Provide senior technical leadership and accountability for geospatial data engineering delivery, ensuring quality, compliance, and schedule outcomes.
  • Own end-to-end performance of geospatial dataflows, including ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery to downstream systems.
  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise geospatial dataflows using tools such as Apache NiFi and FME.
  • Develop and manage complex geospatial ETL workflows, data models, and embedded data quality controls.
  • Act as a technical escalation point, driving root cause analysis and resolution of complex data and pipeline issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement, governance alignment, documentation, and mentoring to uplift team capability and engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in data engineering, delivering enterprise-scale dataflows and integration solutions.
  • Strong background in geospatial or spatiotemporal data within enterprise environments.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain scalable, automated data pipelines.
  • Expertise in data integration tools (e.g., Apache NiFi, FME), SQL, data modelling, and performance optimisation.
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming (e.g., Python, PowerShell) with accountability for data quality in regulated environments.
  • Strong stakeholder communication, professional judgement, and commitment to continuous improvement in secure or high-compliance settings.
  • Australian Citizen and hold an active TSPV Clearance.
