About the role

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of USAF Platform One initiatives; e.g. BigBang, Kafka, etc.
  • Manages processing services delivered over the internet; this includes understanding cloud architecture, security controls, and risk
  • Supports cybersecurity policies, best practices, controls, and technologies used to secure applications, data, and infrastructure in cloud environments
  • Ensures the protection of digital information and minimizes risk from unauthorized access, modification, and use
  • Manages the framework for integrating security measures and controls into the design and implementation of a software solution
  • Optimize system availability, performance, scalability, and reliability across distributed cloud environments
  • Implement and oversee security best practices, including identity and access management, logging, monitoring, vulnerability management, and compliance controls
  • Support system integration, verification, validation, testing, and quality assurance activities across multiple technical domains
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues, perform root cause analysis upon customer request
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture artifacts, and operational procedures; e.g. Technical Direction
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, program leadership, customers, and external partners or vendors to deliver integrated solutions
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and guidance in support of updating and maintaining Data Transport environments and platforms; e.g. BigBang and Kafka

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Interim Secret clearance required to start; ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification (IAT Level II)
  • Expert-level experience designing and supporting cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI)
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, and DevOps/DevSecOps practices
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native application architectures
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, networking, and cloud security concepts
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting or programming languages (e.g., Apache NiFi)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
