About the role
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of USAF Platform One initiatives; e.g. BigBang, Kafka, etc.
- Manages processing services delivered over the internet; this includes understanding cloud architecture, security controls, and risk
- Supports cybersecurity policies, best practices, controls, and technologies used to secure applications, data, and infrastructure in cloud environments
- Ensures the protection of digital information and minimizes risk from unauthorized access, modification, and use
- Manages the framework for integrating security measures and controls into the design and implementation of a software solution
- Optimize system availability, performance, scalability, and reliability across distributed cloud environments
- Implement and oversee security best practices, including identity and access management, logging, monitoring, vulnerability management, and compliance controls
- Support system integration, verification, validation, testing, and quality assurance activities across multiple technical domains
- Troubleshoot complex system issues, perform root cause analysis upon customer request
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture artifacts, and operational procedures; e.g. Technical Direction
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams, program leadership, customers, and external partners or vendors to deliver integrated solutions
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and guidance in support of updating and maintaining Data Transport environments and platforms; e.g. BigBang and Kafka
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience
- Interim Secret clearance required to start; ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
- U.S. citizenship required
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification (IAT Level II)
- Expert-level experience designing and supporting cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI)
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, and DevOps/DevSecOps practices
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native application architectures
- Advanced knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, networking, and cloud security concepts
- Proficiency in one or more scripting or programming languages (e.g., Apache NiFi)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
