About the role

  • Lead and develop your own team of structural engineers and designers
  • Execute complex and exciting substation projects and programs
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams while maintaining high standards of client satisfaction
  • Prepare and review proposals, technical write-ups and project approach documents for substation projects
  • Function as client Point of Contact (P.O.C) and liaise with clients on project-related issues
  • Provide technical training and mentorship to junior staff
  • Understand and apply industry standards and regulatory compliance requirements to projects
  • Develop a portfolio of design tools, processes, and standards
  • Represent Leidos at technical conferences and business development opportunities
  • Ensure and facilitate project team collaboration and communication across all disciplines

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in utility engineering and civil and structural engineering or Master's degree with 8 years of such relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Experience leading and collaborating with Electric Power Utility engineering teams on brownfield and greenfield substation projects
  • Experience as a civil and/or structural engineer leading projects and performing QC reviews
  • Proposal and pricing creation and understanding of risk management
  • Business acumen, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, reliability, and sound judgment
  • Expertise with staff training/mentorship, ability to provide leadership and development to engineering teams
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Active membership in national engineering societies and work-groups (IEEE, PES, etc.) preferred
