About the role
- Lead and develop your own team of structural engineers and designers
- Execute complex and exciting substation projects and programs
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams while maintaining high standards of client satisfaction
- Prepare and review proposals, technical write-ups and project approach documents for substation projects
- Function as client Point of Contact (P.O.C) and liaise with clients on project-related issues
- Provide technical training and mentorship to junior staff
- Understand and apply industry standards and regulatory compliance requirements to projects
- Develop a portfolio of design tools, processes, and standards
- Represent Leidos at technical conferences and business development opportunities
- Ensure and facilitate project team collaboration and communication across all disciplines
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university
- 10+ years of relevant experience in utility engineering and civil and structural engineering or Master's degree with 8 years of such relevant experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- Experience leading and collaborating with Electric Power Utility engineering teams on brownfield and greenfield substation projects
- Experience as a civil and/or structural engineer leading projects and performing QC reviews
- Proposal and pricing creation and understanding of risk management
- Business acumen, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, reliability, and sound judgment
- Expertise with staff training/mentorship, ability to provide leadership and development to engineering teams
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- Active membership in national engineering societies and work-groups (IEEE, PES, etc.) preferred
