About the role
- Review and evaluate engineering drawings, specifications, studies, and calculations prepared by EPC contractors, consultants, and equipment vendors.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and owner-specific requirements (e.g., IEEE, NESC, utility standards).
- Provide technical guidance on substation physical, transmission line, Civil & Structural, distribution, and protection & control designs.
- Occasional Site-visits to client substation facilities may be required, along with occasional travel for client meetings and industry-related events.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and value‑engineering discussions.
- Support project managers by translating technical issues into actionable decisions.
- Review vendor submittals, equipment data sheets, FAT/SAT results, and test reports.
- Support the development and enforcement of engineering standards and best practices.
- Provide technical support during construction, including RFI responses, field issue resolution, and design clarifications.
- Evaluate technical risks and provide recommendations to mitigate impacts on cost, schedule, and system reliability.
- Track engineering deliverables and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related degree
- Ten (10+) plus years of direct experience in substation Protection and control design
- Ability to lead substation design projects by aligning engineering execution with program management
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.E) license (it would be nice if you had)
- Master’s degree in related field (it would be nice if you had)
