About the role

  • The Challenge: Perform conceptual and detailed HV and MV Substation Physical/Electrical design for medium to large scale utilities/substations (including basic layout, electrical arrangement, one line, three line drawings, plan-section, grounding, AC and DC system drawings)\n
  • Perform advanced engineering studies and calculations\n
  • Perform Quality Control reviews on medium to large substation physical design projects\n
  • Create and review bill of materials for substation physical projects\n
  • Develop and review proposals, and scopes of work for substation physical projects.\n
  • Develop and provide advanced technical presentations to the team to assist with staff technical development\n
  • Be involved in client interaction (including site visits) with a drive for customer satisfaction\n
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers\n
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with the internal teams and clients to meet project objectives\n

  • What you will bring to the table: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, civil or related degree with eight (8+) plus years of Substation physical design experience.\n
  • Leadership experience in executing substation projects\n
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with the internal team and clients to meet project needs.\n
  • Ability to lead bids and proposal effort for utility clients\n
  • Ability to perform quality control checks on substation design projects.\n
  • Act as a supervisor for one to six direct reports\n
  • Ability to read and design substation physical drawings such as one line drawings, three line drawings, plan-section drawings, foundation, grounding drawings.\n
  • Ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings such as one-line drawings, three line drawings, AC/DC schematic drawings and wiring design\n
  • Ability to create and check bill of materials for substation physical\n
  • Act as a key contributor to the develop substation physical application documents to define design scope, philosophies, methodologies, and criteria for medium and high-voltage substation projects.\n
  • Experience with grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studies.\n
  • Ability to attend site visit at customer location\n
  • It would be nice if you had: Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) License Master’s degree in related field Experience with QA/QC Working knowledge of protection and control design Experience with BUS calculations. Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS Experience with SDS AutoCAD Electrical software.\n
