About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Function as part of the clinical team under the direction of an LPN, RN, or provider
- Prepare patients and equipment for exams/procedures and maintain exam rooms and clinical areas
- Collect medical histories and process medication refills per protocol
- Collect and prepare lab specimens and requisitions
- Schedule appointments and obtain authorizations for referrals and procedures
- Identify and communicate actual or potential patient risks to licensed nurses or providers
- Adhere to clerical, clinical, and EMR workflows
- Greet and welcome patients and provide front-office support and customer service in person and by phone
- Collect co-payments, update patient demographics, and obtain referrals and pre-certifications
- Deliver care using patient-centered care concepts
Requirements
What you’ll need- Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant
- Ability to accept and adapt to constant change within a healthcare setting
- Ability to take initiative and function independently and collaboratively
- Excellent computer skills, including EMR, word processing, and Excel
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification in Pennsylvania within 30 days
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting and standing
- Frequent keyboard use
- Patient care providers may need to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR
