About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Participate in pre-visit planning with the clinical care team to support smooth practice operations and patient flow
Conduct workflows for care gap closures, referral authorizations, and medication authorizations
Conduct patient outreach regarding care follow-up and appointment needs
Communicate with patients via telephone, patient portal, and other applicable virtual platforms
Facilitate virtual rooming and virtual appointment concierge calls for telehealth appointments
Provide instructions and education for tests and procedures according to established guidelines
Support intake for annual wellness visits
Manage visit prior authorizations and referral appointments
Support empanelment for assigned practices
Serve as an expert liaison for patients and families regarding patient portal and medical record technology
Provide virtual care concierge assistance and guidance

Requirements

What you’ll need

Technical School Diploma as a Medical Assistant or Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant
2 years of experience interacting with patients and performing identified core Medical Assistant functions
3 years of experience working within a complex health system environment or related field
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Enhance skills through continuing education
Ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously
Superior customer service skills
Working knowledge of basic computer functionality
Effective and professional written and verbal communication
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Ability to adapt to changing priorities
Critical thinking skills and a solution-focused approach
Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.; frequent sitting/standing and keyboard use; role-specific activities may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR
Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting
Preferred: Knowledge and experience with electronic medical records and scheduling software
Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred: CCMA certification (NHA) and State of Pennsylvania credential
