About the role
- Evaluates, plans, directs, and administers programs of Occupational Therapy (OT) to restore function and prevent disability
- Provides assessment of the patient condition based on diagnosis from the referring physician
- Develops and updates plan of care in collaboration with patient and family to assist in returning to maximum function
- Implements individualized treatment plans using evidence-based techniques: therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, functional mobility training, ADL training, splinting/DME, and modalities
- Performs reassessment and modifies Occupational Therapy plans accordingly
- Communicates patient progress and physical limitations to supervisor, physician, and team members
- Provides supervision in accordance with regulatory requirements, as appropriate
- Establishes treatment plans with measurable goals and time frames
- Provides cost effective care per departmental billing guidelines
- Completes and submits all documentation based on policies, standards and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree Occupational Therapy
- Less than 1 year experience
- Successfully completed clinical experiences as required by the school program
- Demonstrates sound clinical reasoning in synthesizing data gathered in the evaluation and identifying treatment diagnoses
- Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques
- Must be able to communicate with patients, family, and co-workers in a friendly, supportive manner
- Must be able to provide safe, compassionate, and competent occupational therapy treatments
- Ability to travel to patient care assignments - Home Care only
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
- OT - Licensed Occupational Therapist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
- Preferred: Master’s Degree Occupational Therapy or Doctorate Occupational Therapy
- Preferred: 1 year Clinical experience for Home Care
- Physical demands: Lift and carry 40-50 lbs; push/pull patients (29 lbs push force); lateral transfers up to 50 lbs; frequent standing/walking; kneeling, bending, squatting, performing CPR
