About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information to process prescriptions.
  • Assists the pharmacists in performing technical duties related to the distribution of drugs to patients.
  • Monitors medication inventory levels and places orders to restock.
  • Develops strong relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Supports pharmacological services by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, placing and expediting orders, reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, and compounding sterile and non-sterile products and other pharmaceutical therapies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill to ensure compliance with USP 797 and USP 800.
  • Adheres to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Models good aseptic technique and appropriate garbing.
  • Ensures cleaning and maintenance of sterile compounding areas per USP 797 and USP 800.
  • Applies knowledge of USP 71/797/800 to troubleshoot questions and problems.
  • Fills medication orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensures all medications are properly labeled, checked by a pharmacist, and dispensed in a timely manner.
  • Prioritizes workload, maintains organization, and coordinates activities with other team members.
  • Monitors medication expiration dates and ensures no expired medications are in circulation.
  • Complies with all record keeping including controlled substances,
  • Communicates all drug information requests to a pharmacist.
  • Demonstrates and maintains competency with pharmacy equipment and duties.
  • Answers the phone and attends to customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new pharmacy colleagues.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of prescription and/or over the counter products in the designated areas.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 years Sterile compounding pharmacy technician experience
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good math skills needed for counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • CPhT - Certified Pharmacy Technician - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • 5 years Sterile compounding pharmacy technician experience (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of inventory control.
  • Knowledge of brand name/generic medications.
  • Knowledge and ability to use pharmacy automation.
  • CSPT - Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
