About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist general education and special education teacher(s)
- Perform a variety of instructional support duties to individual or small groups of Special Education pupils
- Work closely with teachers, administrators, and team members
- Reinforce learning of material or skills
- Support students in the general and pull-out rooms
- Assist in data collection related to student performance
- Devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills
- Distribute and collect work, papers, and other materials for instruction
- Supervision of students during drills, assemblies, and field trips
- Maintain confidentiality of student information
- Participate in in-service training programs
- Alerts the teacher to problems or special information about students
- Assist substitute teachers
- Assist staff and students in using educational computer programs
- Maintain accurate records required by policies
- Administer assessments and assist in evaluations
- Organizing learning environment and instructional materials
- Accompany or assist students to and from transportation
- Assist students with personal hygiene functions
- Monitor student’s daily schedule and behavior
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED required
- Paraprofessional Assessment completed successfully (if applicable)
