About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support month-end close, analysis and reporting
- Preparation and analysis of journal entries and financial activity
- Preparation of monthly general ledger reconciliations
- Entry and reconciliation of revenue, accounts receivable, and cash receipts
- Continuous and proactive improvement of processes and controls
- Manage and provide detailed analysis as the subject matter expert for their area of accounting responsibility
- Reports to the Controller or Assistant Controller
- May manage one or more Staff Accountants
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business required; CPA preferred
- 5+ years’ experience in accounting
- Strong practical working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains)
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel essential
- Experience with insurance billing, services business, project-based accounting systems, time and materials contracts, and/or labor-based invoicing a plus
- Analytic, detail-oriented, and inquisitive
- Demonstrated ability to meet monthly closing and project deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
- Desire to take on increasing responsibility
