About the role

  • As a Senior Backend Engineer on our Identity Engineering team, you'll design, develop and scale critical identity services and middleware that power League's platform.
  • You will lead complex projects from discovery to delivery, working primarily with Go, Node.js, MongoDB, Auth0, Github & GCP.
  • You will work as part of a small team to deliver features on our roadmap and contribute to building our developer program and tools.
  • You’ll be responsible for large pieces of work, as well as setting best practices and mentoring other members of the team with openness and empathy.
  • To thrive in this role, you are someone who works well in teams and enjoys collaborating.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, proactively identifying root causes.
  • Actively participate in technical design and planning discussions, contributing to system design and documentation (including ADRs).
  • Uphold code quality standards through code reviews, bug fixes, automated tests, and performance monitoring.
  • Participate in our On-Call rotation.

Requirements

  • You have a minimum of 5 years backend development experience
  • You enjoy delivering value to customers
  • You have experience building scalable, fault-tolerant cloud services
  • You know how to write high-quality, testable code, and understand the tradeoffs between expediency and maintainability
  • You understand how the web works and what a good API looks like
  • When things break, you’re eager and able to help fix things
  • Bonus experience: Experience building and maintaining environments deployed through infrastructure-as-code pipelines.
  • Bonus experience: An understanding of basic cryptographic principles and systems.
  • Bonus experience: Strong experience or knowledge about OAuth, OpenID Connect or FIDO standards.
  • Bonus experience: Experience working with Golang, Google Cloud Platform or Node.js
