About the role
- Maintain and manage legal docketing systems, including tracking deadlines, court dates, and key case milestones
- Review court filings, correspondence, and legal documents to identify and calendar critical deadlines
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all docket entries across multiple jurisdictions
- Monitor changes to court rules and procedures and update internal systems accordingly
- Communicate deadlines and schedule updates to attorneys, paralegals, and support staff
- Coordinate with legal teams to support case planning and workflow management
- Generate reports related to upcoming deadlines, case statuses, and docket activity
- Perform quality control checks to ensure compliance with internal policies and external court requirements
- Assist with maintaining documentation and records in accordance with firm standards
- Provide general administrative support related to docketing and case management as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree OR paralegal certificate OR 5 to 8 years of docketing experience in lieu of the degree/certificate
- Minimum of 5 years of legal docketing experience either at a law firm or in-house legal department
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local court rules and filing procedures
- Experience using docketing or case management systems (e.g., CompuLaw, CourtAlert, Milana or similar)
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Excel
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
