About the role
- Providing a wide range of legal and non‑legal research and analysis to attorneys and business services staff using a variety of research tools
- Conducting complex legal and non‑legal research, coordinating large projects, and synthesizing and analyzing results for relevance and responsiveness to specific research requests
- Supporting the Restructuring & Finance teams with distressed company research, market intelligence, and transaction-related research and analysis, using Dealogic, Octus, Debtwire, Bloomberg, and LSEG
- Monitoring business, industry, and legal news sources for developments regarding clients, industries, and practice areas, and using aggregator platforms to assemble relevant results for distribution to attorneys and business services staff
- Promoting awareness of research platforms and providing training on research resources
- Sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues, and assisting with department staff professional development and monthly departmental calls
- Promoting effective work practices by working as a team member and demonstrating respect for coworkers
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
Requirements
- Possess advanced legal and non‑legal research knowledge and skills
- Demonstrate the ability to conduct effective training for attorneys, departmental colleagues, and other business services staff
- Exhibit advanced communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as a team player, manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple deadlines
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- A master’s degree or Juris Doctor (J.D.), preferably
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of cumulative experience
