Handle on-demand video and audio interpreting sessions between Korean and English speakers.
Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
Serve clients across industries: Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.
Process information quickly and recognize sensitive cultural differences.
Participate in online, video and audio training sessions; receive paid professional interpreter training.
Deliver interpretation services via video and expediently type data on a dedicated device.
Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation and polite expressions.
Maintain professional demeanor and remain calm during emotional or emergency calls (including 911).
Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.
Follow client instructions and protocol; avoid interacting with LEP without client permission.
Understand protocol and terminology for various industries and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
Provide required company standards of service during high call volumes and extended calls without breaks when necessary.
Requirements
Fluency in Korean and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics.
Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
Excellent listening, retention and note-taking skills.
Ability to concentrate, stay detached, remain neutral and objective at all times.
Ability to remain on calls involving sensitive subjects (end of life, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, sexual orientation/gender expression).
Education or work experience in language-related fields (teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation) preferred.
Must be able to adapt to LLS technology enhancements.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Legally authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship; cannot require H1-B, F-1 OPT, TN or other non-immigrant sponsorship now or in the future).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Candidates currently employed by a client of LanguageLine Solutions or an affiliated business may not be eligible.
Ability to read and write the requested languages highly preferred.
Post-offer pre-employment background check and/or drug screen may be required based on location.
Technical: Dedicated personal device for business (desktop/laptop/tablet/smartphone) running Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS or Android.
Restricted hardware/software: no Kaspersky products; no Huawei hardware.
Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
Physical: operate keyboard and mouse; remain stationary in front of computer and webcam majority of day; use headset for prolonged periods; sufficient manual dexterity to type or write; able to lift up to 26 lbs.
