About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the development process from pre-application stage through to completion
  • Assess technical documents submitted in planning applications
  • Support the Council’s Planning Enforcement function
  • Organize and lead meetings with developers and stakeholders to analyze and negotiate development details
  • Lead performance management across Development Management function
  • Make delegated planning decisions on behalf of the Council

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current Barnet Council Employee only
  • Experience in managing development management planners and technical staff
  • Knowledge of planning legislation and national/local planning policies
  • Ability to assess technical documents submitted in support of planning applications
  • Skills in organizing and leading meetings with developers and stakeholders
  • Experience in performance management and project management of major/complex development proposals
