About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for promoting the IRIS programme, building and maintaining relationships with general practice teams
- Delivery of training and providing ongoing support and advocacy for patients experiencing domestic abuse
- Coordinate and deliver training to staff in general medical practices
- Complete risk and needs assessment
- Undertake safety and support planning
- Provide advocacy and support for victims and survivors of domestic abuse, following referral into the service via their GP
- Work closely with the IRIS Clinical Lead and VAWG Training and Engagement Specialist to promote the IRIS programme within Barnet and encourage local general practices to sign up to the IRIS programme
Requirements
What you’ll need- Knowledge of domestic abuse legislation and safeguarding frameworks
- Experience of working with victims and survivors of domestic abuse or with service users with complex needs
- Preferred experience working as an IRIS Advocate Educator
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and intersectional needs of victims
- Experience of risk assessment, safety planning and case management
- Experience delivering training and awareness raising
- Excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
- Good written and verbal reasoning skills and the ability to produce reports to the required standard, to develop, monitor and maintain appropriate recording systems and to develop such skills in others.
