About the role

  • Development of electronic hardware designs for electricity meters, from product specifications or written instructions to the final product ready for mass-production.
  • You will focus on industrial and grid meters including related communication and smart grid components/modules, for products that meet company, national, international standards, regulatory, statutory and customer requirements incl. EMC, safety, metrology, environmental and cost requirements.
  • Specificically, you will be responsible for: Predevelopment, feasibility, concept, and technical specification for Hardware designs.
  • Collaboration with PM for requirements in requirements definition project phase.
  • Simulation, schematics, design description for Hardware designs.
  • Collaboration with PCBA layout and mechanical design team, also with Firmware R&D department.
  • Electronic components (selection, evaluation, qualification), reliability assessment (MTBF, derating etc.).
  • Locally for component management, including the processing of PCNs, EOLs and the introduction of alternative components.
  • Participation in design reviews to ensure best possible success of hardware solutions (electronic design, PCBA layout).
  • Test specification, test execution, test documentation.
  • Support of RED and other certifications.

Requirements

  • Experience of the complete development cycle from concept through to final manufacture
  • Use of circuit simulation tools such as PSpice, MultiSim
  • Experience of Altium Designer schematic capture and analysis tools
  • Experience with de-bugging EMC issues
  • Experience with communication technologies (wired and wireless), power supply design, fail-safe hardware design
  • Logical and methodical approach to fault finding
  • English mandatory, and German spoken
  • Experience with Switch mode / linear power supply design (not mandatory)
  • Experience with Electronic meter technology/metrology (not mandatory)
  • Experience with Software or Firmware programming (not mandatory)
  • Knowledge of relevant directives and standards, ensuring designs meet them (not mandatory)
