About the role

  • Holistic nursing care and support for older adults with mental health conditions such as dementia, depression, or schizophrenia in an inpatient setting.
  • Participation in diagnostics and therapy in close collaboration with physicians, psychologists and other therapists to develop individual treatment and care plans.
  • Professional nursing documentation and care planning, including the preparation of care reports in accordance with current nursing and quality standards.
  • Advising and supporting relatives on care issues, the illness and how to interact with older people experiencing psychological changes.
  • Participation in crisis interventions and application of de-escalation techniques to create a safe, respectful environment for residents and staff.
  • Interdisciplinary cooperation with professionals from nursing, medicine, psychology, social work and therapy to promote comprehensive care.

Requirements

  • Completed training as a qualified nurse (m/f/d) — e.g. as a general nurse, geriatric nurse or nursing specialist — plus further training as a gerontopsychiatric specialist (m/f/d).
  • Ideally qualified as a practice instructor/clinical mentor to pass on your expertise to trainees.
  • Enthusiasm for implementing modern care and support concepts, especially for people with dementia and age-related psychological changes.
  • Empathetic and respectful communication with residents, relatives and team members.
  • Willingness to work in a shift system, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Identification with the Christian values of Lafim-Diakonie and acting in a respectful, ethically responsible manner.
