About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes
- Prepare and review complex journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules
- Assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting working papers
- Research and apply appropriate accounting treatment for complex or non-routine transactions
- Support external audits by preparing schedules, responding to audit requests, and coordinating with auditors
- Assist with corporate tax, sales tax, and regulatory compliance reporting as required
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls and financial processes
- Support acquisitions, business integrations, and other strategic finance initiatives as required
- Partner with operational leaders to provide financial analysis and accounting guidance
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis where required
- Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, reporting, automation, and internal controls
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to members of the accounting team
- Utilize advanced Excel, ERP reporting tools, and AI-enabled productivity methods to improve efficiency, documentation, and reporting quality
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Controller
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Active CPA designation (CPA Canada) required
- Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and/or IFRS
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity environment
- Experience supporting external audits and preparing year-end financial statements
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite experience is considered a strong asset)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
