About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care
Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
Assist with processing specimens when needed
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
4 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may satisfy education requirements in lieu of the listed degree
Understanding of laboratory operations, policies and procedures
Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
Proficient with computers and familiar with laboratory information systems
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
High attention to detail, communication and organizational skills
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Dedicated, non-shared HIPAA-compliant home office
Agreement to have home address added to reports of analyzed or reported cases, per CMS requirement
Wired internet with minimum speed of 100 mb/sec
Ability to work effectively remotely in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and juggle competing priorities
ASCP or AMT certification (preferred)
