About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform FISH analysis, including analysis and imaging of digitized images
  • Analyze metaphase spreads via computerized images
  • Review cytogenetic cases via computerized images and documents
  • Review test requisitions and gather pertinent details for analysis
  • Summarize test results using ISCN nomenclature
  • Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot equipment, software, and applications
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care
  • Report problems to the general supervisor in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with the general supervisor on protocol and policy development and review
  • Provide technical feedback to senior technologists
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Perform onscreen FISH analysis with occasional chromosome work using Metasystems (Neon) and Applied Spectral Imaging (ASI) digital platforms
  • Work remotely in a fast-paced, multi-site environment while managing competing priorities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • ASCP certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG)
  • 1 year or more experience in FISH and Chromosomes for Oncology Cytogenetics
  • Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may satisfy education requirements in lieu of the listed education
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficiency with computers
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts according to business needs
  • Dedicated home office room, not shared with others, meeting HIPAA compliance requirements
  • Agreement to have the home address added to reports of analyzed or reported cases, as required by CMS
  • Wired internet with a minimum speed of 100 Mb/sec
  • Ability to work remotely effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and manage competing priorities
  • No wet lab or bench work; the role is fully analysis-based
