About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform FISH analysis, including analysis and imaging of digitized images
- Analyze metaphase spreads via computerized images
- Review cytogenetic cases, test requisitions, documents, and computerized images
- Summarize test results using ISCN nomenclature
- Distinguish normal and abnormal test results
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot equipment, software, and applications
- Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
- Report accurate and timely test results for quality patient care
- Report problems to the general supervisor
- Collaborate with the general supervisor on protocol and policy development and review
- Provide technical feedback to senior technologists
- Comply with company policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Perform onscreen FISH analysis with occasional chromosome work using Metasystems (Neon) and Applied Spectral Imaging (ASI) digital platforms
- Work Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm in a remote, multi-site environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- ASCP certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG)
- 1 year or more experience in FISH and Chromosomes for Oncology Cytogenetics
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficiency with computers
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
- High attention to detail and strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
- Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may meet education requirements
- Dedicated home office room that is not shared with other people and meets HIPAA compliance
- Agreement to have home address added to reports of analyzed or reported cases, as required by CMS
- Wired internet with a minimum speed of 100 Mb/sec
- Ability to work remotely effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and manage competing priorities
