About the role
- Reviews and assigns the appropriate ICD-9-CM coding to medical diagnosis, procedures and services.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers, word processing software and dictation equipment
- Gains knowledge of department procedures and operations.
- Integrates medical coding and reimbursement rule changes into a practice reimbursement process.
- Review transcription documents for quality assurance and precision to spot and correct any errors that could impact patient care and medical liability
- Identifies problems, determines and provides/implements appropriate corrective action/accurate solutions
- Researches, troubleshoots, and follows up to ensure all inquiries/problems are resolved in a timely manner
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology necessary to correct code provider diagnosis and services preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Previous transcriptionist experience preferred
- Ability to perform successfully in a fast-paced and changing team environment
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Prior experience in the healthcare industry, such as a physician's office or hospital is preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs is required
- Excellent multitasking and prioritization skills
- Strong flexibility and the ability to manage and adapt to changing priorities quickly
