About the role

  • Work with the lab Genetic Counselor team to support clients that order testing performed at Invitae
  • Respond to telephone and email inquiries from Invitae/Labcorp clients, health care providers, and patients
  • Review orders for clinical appropriateness and perform outreach as necessary
  • Contact clients to obtain pertinent clinical information and communicates with clients throughout the testing process
  • Participate in or take leadership of particular operations and development projects as required

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a biological life science
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong multi-tasking ability with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent ability to listen and respond effectively
  • Strong flexibility and the ability to manage and adapt to changing priorities quickly
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others and work cooperatively and effectively to set goals, resolve problems and make recommendations
  • Previous experience working as a Genetic Counselor Assistant (preferred)
  • Experience in a CLIA diagnostic laboratory and familiarity with next-generation sequencing and clinical genetics testing (preferred)
  • Previous experience in the healthcare industry such as a hospital or physician’s office (preferred)
  • Previous Customer Service experience (preferred)
  • Familiarity with genetics concepts (preferred)
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) (preferred)
