About the role
- Labcorp Invitae team seeking Senior Clinical Operations Data Scientist to build scalable data infrastructure, analytics platforms, and statistical models to monitor and optimize clinical operations.
- Work cross-functionally to deliver actionable insights that drive quality, turnaround time, and efficiency in healthcare diagnostics and laboratory workflows.
- Design and implement scalable data models and architectures for efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis
- Design and develop business intelligence platforms for continuous performance monitoring.
- Lead development of early detection of trend shifts, anomaly detection systems; diagnose causes
- Lead high-impact data science projects in high-throughput genomics, translating business requirements into technical specifications and innovative solutions
- Ensure high standards of data privacy, security, and compliance are maintained in all projects.
- Provide governance of enterprise data, best practices across teams
- Mentor scientists and engineers and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive development and operational initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering foundation with extensive experience in programming (e.g. Python, Java), version control, cloud-native databases (e.g. Postgres, Datomic, Snowflake, Redshift), and APIs.
- Hands-on experience with modern ETL/ELT tools (e.g. DBT, Glue, Databricks)
- Extensive experience developing within cloud-based business intelligence tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau), and cloud computing infrastructure (e.g. AWS)
- Applied proficiency in data science techniques including statistical process control, anomaly detection, predictive analytics, and machine learning on laboratory and clinical data.
- Experience with production lab environments, NGS genomics data, and bioinformatics analytical pipelines
- Strong understanding of data privacy, security, and ethical issues in a regulated industry
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, clinicians, engineers, and business analysts.
- Proven ability to communicate technical problems, analytical methodologies, and analysis findings clearly and concisely
- Minimum of a master’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience in data science, bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field, with a proven track record of leading complex research and development projects. Ph.D. preferred in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Engineering, or a related field.
