About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Sell furniture, accessories, and services to contribute to store sales goals
  • Promote the Design program and assist the Designer in achieving sales goals
  • Execute the La-Z-Boy selling process and provide favorable customer experiences
  • Develop customer relationships through needs discovery, customized portfolio presentations, objection handling, closing, follow-up, and after-sale service
  • Maximize store promotions, marketing initiatives, and grassroots programs
  • Maintain knowledge of existing and new product lines
  • Schedule professional home consultations and present customized room designs
  • Recommend sample fabrics, furniture, tables, accessories, and professional installation services
  • Execute and champion the established Design process
  • Provide customer service and ensure informative, positive customer experiences
  • Use Podium for customer satisfaction and follow-up
  • Respond to incoming phone calls and emails
  • Handle customer issues and complaints and provide appropriate solutions
  • Maintain positive relationships with store employees
  • Help train, coach, and develop new peers on product knowledge and selling skills
  • Maintain the store’s visual appearance, displays, product tagging, catalogs, fabrics, floor moves, and cleanliness
  • Complete order information, collect deposits and fees, maintain customer records, and research payments and deliveries
  • Complete daily On-Point system logs
  • Schedule customer deliveries
  • Open and close the store

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous selling experience and ability to close a sale strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, build rapport, and positively influence
  • Demonstrated persuasion and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage time and conflicting priorities effectively
  • Ability to work effectively and productively with others as a team
  • Ability to work the schedule and hours dictated by business needs
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Initiative to meet assigned goals, missions, and objectives
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screen
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field preferred

  • Training pay of $15–$20 per hour for 2–6 weeks
  • Uncapped commission: 3% on La-Z-Boy Design Sales and 2% on other sales
  • Quarterly bonus opportunity of $1,500 based on defined individual sales goals
