About the role
- Perform structural analyses on aircraft primary and secondary structures
- Use a mix of classical methods and finite-element modeling
- Consider all relevant failure modes to meet aircraft airworthiness requirements
- Predict internal stresses and structural instabilities in aircraft structure
- Generate free-body diagrams of structural load paths
- Determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams
- Document and report analysis results
- Coordinate with Mechanical Design team to develop structural load path concepts
- Review and approve structural engineering drawings as part of the release process
- Automate repetitive analytical tasks
- Work in a collaborative team environment as a member of the Flight Sciences Group
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (BSME, BSAE, BSCE) and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience
- Graduate Degree (MSME, MSAE) and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
- Minimum 4 years experience in Finite-Element Modeling (FEM)
- Must be a US citizen
- Experience with MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN, or FEMAP is preferred
- Experience analyzing composite structures
- Experience in Matlab or Mathcad
- Experience with FAA and/or Military Airworthiness requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and have general computer knowledge.
