About the role
- Work with cross functional teams define tool requirements
- Design using PTC Creo and Windchill in accordance with principles of Design for Manufacturability
- Use finite element analysis (FEA) methods and tools to perform structural analysis of tools in order to predict internal stresses and resolve structural instabilities
- Lead design reviews with cross functional teams to obtain approval of tool designs
- Oversee procurement and fabrication of tooling
- Work with Manufacturing Engineers to perform functional evaluations and acceptance of the tooling
- Perform liaison support for tool maintenance by identification of tool problems, design of repairs and implementation of modifications
- Perform GD&T and complex system tolerance analysis
- Ability to obtain a US security clearance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior mechanical engineering design experience
- A Graduate Degree, or equivalent, with minimum of 2 years prior mechanical engineering design experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior mechanical engineering design experience
- 2 years’ experience design of tooling, ground support equipment, or special test equipment
- Experience with Creo is strongly preferred
- Siemens NX is preferred
- Experience with ANSYS is preferred
- Fabrication experience is preferred
- Composite Wind tool design and/or fabrication experience is preferred
- Compression Mold tool design and/or fabrication experience is preferred
- Experience working in the defense industry is desired
