About the role
- Work with cross functional teams define tool requirements.
- Design using PTC Creo and Windchill in accordance with principles of Design for Manufacturability.
- Use finite element analysis (FEA) methods and tools to perform structural analysis of tools in order to predict internal stresses and resolve structural instabilities.
- Lead design reviews with cross functional teams to obtain approval of tool designs.
- Oversee procurement and fabrication of tooling.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineers to perform functional evaluations and acceptance of the tooling.
- Perform liaison support for tool maintenance by identification of tool problems, design of repairs, and implementation of modifications.
- Perform GD&T and complex system tolerance analysis.
- Ability to obtain a US security clearance.
- Travel: 5%.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior mechanical engineering design experience.
- A Graduate Degree, or equivalent, with minimum of 4 years prior mechanical engineering design experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior mechanical engineering design experience.
- 4 years’ experience design of tooling, ground support equipment, or special test equipment.
- Experience with Creo is strongly preferred.
- Siemens NX is preferred.
- Experience with ANSYS is preferred.
- Fabrication experience is preferred.
- Composite Wind tool design and/or fabrication experience is preferred.
- Compression Mold tool design and/or fabrication experience is preferred.
- Experience working in the defense industry is desired.
