About the role

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and requirements to translate to process planning that produces conforming hardware.
  • Take full ownership of assigned product manufacturing processes, serving as the primary technical authority from initial planning through production delivery.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of product design, functionality, and requirements to ensure manufacturing processes support product performance and quality objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, and production, to ensure successful program execution.
  • Develop clear, comprehensive, and user-friendly work instructions that technicians can easily follow.
  • Must understand the practical application of work instructions from both the writer's and user's perspective, ensuring documentation effectively bridges engineering intent with shop floor execution.
  • Assist, develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process instructions, manufacturing bills of materials and routings.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices.
  • Provide Design for manufacturability and assembly feedback.
  • May design and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience
  • Preferred Additional Skills: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with manufacturing and assembly of space hardware.
  • Experience working within ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP.
  • Experience working within PLM software to manage parts, assemblies and documentation.
  • Proficiency in machining, GD&T and assembly processes.
  • Experience with process optimization, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to manufacturing processes.
