About the role
- Responsible for maintenance, management, and care of propulsion test equipment and the execution of propulsion testing.
- Act as the “Crew Chief” for an engine test platform, and liaise with the UAS design team to define testing to assist in product verification and risk reduction activities.
- Help define test scope, manage documentation and configuration control, and support creation of test reports to communicate results.
- Work alongside a small, multi-functional propulsion team to execute testing.
- Primary efforts will be propulsion related, but scope of the role also includes integration, testing, and troubleshooting of full UAS design.
- Hands-on lead for small verification test efforts including lab, chamber, ground and flight test with support from engineering
- Coordinate with team to create test plans: define unit under test, setup test equipment, identify and install sensors, utilize data acquisition systems, write test procedures, identify entry/exit criteria, host Test Readiness Reviews.
- Execute system integration and engineering test efforts.
- Support hands-on troubleshooting and RCCA efforts.
- Own documentation for propulsion test platform.
- Perform trade studies on a variety of systems and components.
- Obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required.
- Lifting up to 20 lbs. 10% travel may be required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Active DoD Secret security clearance
- System level design experience in which the applicant has been involved in the design and integration of complex hardware/software systems, the definition of multiple interfaces and been involved in the trades of multiple solution options
- Hands-on experience being involved in system integration, engineering testing, and system performance characterization
- Basic electrical engineering skills, including soldering, cable builds, etc.
- Exposure to/experience with engine or fuel system testing
- Strong knowledge of jet engine design, fuel system design, incompressible fluids modeling
- A&P License or experience as mechanic
- Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products
- Experience with prototyping and bench testing of components and subsystems
- Experience leading a small team to complete assigned program tasking
- Experience in using data acquisition systems, such as NIDAQ
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
- Experience with Matlab, Simulink, LabView
- Experience in unmanned aircraft or guided weapon systems
- Experience in deriving requirements from customer objectives and concepts of operations
- Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
- Experience using Microsoft Office products
