About the role
- The Sustainment engineer is involved in a multi-functional team on the hangar floor with coordinating the design, modification, maintenance, and repair of aircraft structures, mechanical systems, and mission equipment installations.
- The engineer applies basic engineering design and/or analytical theory with understanding of structural analysis for solving problems of various types and complexities.
- Support the transition from engineering design to manufacturing, assembly and aircraft installation of designed products.
- Perform critical analysis: static analysis, Durability & Damage Tolerance (D&DT), and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Coordinate design, modification, and repair of aircraft structures, mechanical systems, and mission equipment.
- Assess, repair, rework, and design replacement parts for aircraft lifecycle maintenance.
- Work in hangar and manufacturing environments; access confined spaces (fuel tanks, restricted areas).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field (OR 6+ years relevant experience in lieu of degree).
- 2+ years relevant experience (0-2 years with graduate degree).
- GPA: 3.0 or higher
- Eligible for security clearance.
- Strong written/verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or Materials Science Engineering is preferred.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- CAD experience.
- Prior mechanical/structural design or liaison engineering experience.
