About the role

  • The Sustainment engineer is involved in a multi-functional team on the hangar floor with coordinating the design, modification, maintenance, and repair of aircraft structures, mechanical systems, and mission equipment installations.
  • The engineer applies basic engineering design and/or analytical theory with understanding of structural analysis for solving problems of various types and complexities.
  • Support the transition from engineering design to manufacturing, assembly and aircraft installation of designed products.
  • Perform critical analysis: static analysis, Durability & Damage Tolerance (D&DT), and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Coordinate design, modification, and repair of aircraft structures, mechanical systems, and mission equipment.
  • Assess, repair, rework, and design replacement parts for aircraft lifecycle maintenance.
  • Work in hangar and manufacturing environments; access confined spaces (fuel tanks, restricted areas).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field (OR 6+ years relevant experience in lieu of degree).
  • 2+ years relevant experience (0-2 years with graduate degree).
  • GPA: 3.0 or higher
  • Eligible for security clearance.
  • Strong written/verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or Materials Science Engineering is preferred.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • CAD experience.
  • Prior mechanical/structural design or liaison engineering experience.
