About the role
- Lead mechanical design activities for filament wound composite cases and solid propulsion systems and components.
- Conduct trade studies and develop component specifications and procedures as required.
- Develop test plans and technical reviews.
- Independently develop design concepts, 3D models and support the development of detailed drawings for the manufacture of parts.
- Support engineering drawing and specification updates at configuration change boards.
- Interact with component analysis, manufacturing, project engineering, quality and customer support groups.
- Plan and execute design tasks with limited general direction and work effectively within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
- Provide input to address nonconforming hardware, process planning, support production meetings, and work with supply chain to assure that design requirements are met.
- Prepare material and support engineering presentations for internal and external customers.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior Mechanical Design experience
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior Mechanical Design experience
- Minimum of 8 years of prior Mechanical Design experience in lieu of a degree
- Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is desired
- Experience in filament wound composite pressure vessel design and manufacturing methods is preferred
- Strong understanding of solid propulsion systems design is preferred
- Knowledge and experience in strategic booster motors, tactical rocket motors, controllable solids systems is preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with CAD software tools (CREO), and PLM Systems (Windchill), engineering drawing and GD&T application experience is preferred.
