About the role

  • Performing and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management
  • Implementing design and analysis tasks and overseeing special studies and experiments
  • Coordinating ballistic, thermal, and structural analyses
  • Performing post-test examination, analyses, and reporting while supporting the program technical lead
  • Determining approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices
  • Supporting Engineering teams working on solid rocket motor development and production program tasks/problem resolution, etc.
  • Monitoring technical progress and interface with Program Management, Aerojet Rocketdyne customers, and other Aerojet Rocketdyne functional organizations to understand and develop resolution to program technical issues.
  • Providing technical consultation to Program Management and Business Development organizations for business development activities such as writing white papers or preparing and presenting technical briefings to customers.
  • Providing inputs to written and verbal status reports to Engineering lead, Aerojet Rocketdyne Management, and provide input and leadership at product team meetings
  • Conceiving and planning projects involving the development of new methods to attain objectives.
  • Providing direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.
  • Keeping current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments
  • May provide technical guidance to less senior project engineers and project support personnel.
  • May be assigned engineering Cost Account Management (CAM) duties

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior Project Engineering experience
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior Project Engineering experience
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior Project Engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering is preferred
  • Knowledge of pertinent codes, rules, and regulations related to areas of engineering assignments
  • Use of engineering test equipment, CAD, and computer applications with various office and engineering software applications
  • Systems engineering principles in Requirements and Risk & Opportunity management
  • Principles of budget and schedule management for assigned project scope, such as Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Industry standards and practices
  • Understanding of rocket propulsion component(s) and theory of operation
  • Understanding and/or leading Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process
