About the role

  • Lead, direct, and review the work of professionals or lower-level supervisors
  • Communicate within and outside the function to explain and gain cooperation on policies and practices
  • Make moderate to substantial improvements to processes, systems, and solutions
  • Plan and establish goals and objectives for a team with direct impact on the short-term operational results for the department
  • Ensure Manufacturing Engineers take full ownership of their processes and pursue continuous improvement
  • Manage large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization
  • Prepare and oversee budgets for the group
  • Mentor, coach, and develop Manufacturing Engineers to improve performance
  • Lead the team in process/work instruction reviews to ensure first-time quality is achieved when processes transition to production

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant engineering experience
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related engineering experience
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related engineering experience
  • 2+ years people leadership experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with other departments and management levels
  • Ability to troubleshoot and think critically to determine solutions to complex manufacturing problems
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Lean Six Sigma certification and working experience
  • Ability to collaborate with other functional leaders and individual contributors
  • Ability to effectively handle disagreements and help teams find consensus
  • Ability to motivate and engage personnel in a productive manner
  • Firsthand experience onboarding new product lines
  • Knowledge of composite materials, including the behavior of different fibers (carbon, glass, aramid) and resin systems
  • Knowledge of operation of robots, presses, ovens, winders, CNC machines, cutting tables and/or autoclaves
  • Strong GD&T background supporting part validation
  • Adaptable to a changing work environment.
