About the role
- Lead, direct, and review the work of professionals or lower-level supervisors
- Communicate within and outside the function to explain and gain cooperation on policies and practices
- Make moderate to substantial improvements to processes, systems, and solutions
- Plan and establish goals and objectives for a team with direct impact on the short-term operational results for the department
- Ensure Manufacturing Engineers take full ownership of their processes and pursue continuous improvement
- Manage large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization
- Prepare and oversee budgets for the group
- Mentor, coach, and develop Manufacturing Engineers to improve performance
- Lead the team in process/work instruction reviews to ensure first-time quality is achieved when processes transition to production
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant engineering experience
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related engineering experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related engineering experience
- 2+ years people leadership experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with other departments and management levels
- Ability to troubleshoot and think critically to determine solutions to complex manufacturing problems
- Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
- Lean Six Sigma certification and working experience
- Ability to collaborate with other functional leaders and individual contributors
- Ability to effectively handle disagreements and help teams find consensus
- Ability to motivate and engage personnel in a productive manner
- Firsthand experience onboarding new product lines
- Knowledge of composite materials, including the behavior of different fibers (carbon, glass, aramid) and resin systems
- Knowledge of operation of robots, presses, ovens, winders, CNC machines, cutting tables and/or autoclaves
- Strong GD&T background supporting part validation
- Adaptable to a changing work environment.
