About the role
- perform aerodynamics analysis
- provide ground and flight test support for fixed wing and rotary aircraft
- evaluate the effect of aircraft modifications on the vehicle performance
- compute the effect of modifications on aircraft aerodynamic loads
- perform steady-state and time accurate CFD analyses
- planning, support, and execution of Wind Tunnel Tests
- planning and support of aerodynamic design optimization studies
- perform comparative analyses of predicted aerodynamics with experimental and/or flight test data
- lead method and tool development and enhancement activities
- manage large, complex project initiatives with minimal oversight or direction
- communicate within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches
- make significant improvements in processes, systems, or products
- provide input into new products/processes and implement operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
- minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience
- Graduate Degree (MSME, MSAE) and a minimum of 7 years of prior aircraft aerodynamics experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics analyses, mesh generation, and post procession codes
- Minimum 2 years experience in wind tunnel testing
- Minimum 2 years experience with aircraft performance analysis
- Must be a US citizen
- Preferred: Experience with Pointwise, NASA FUN3D, and FieldView
- Familiarity with civil and military airworthiness requirements
- Experience in Matlab/Simulink is a plus
- High performance computing administration is a plus
- Experience in aircraft stability analysis is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
