About the role
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring company environment, health and safety (EHS) programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental health and safety regulations.
- Work to reduce company risk and liability in all aspects of EHS.
- Assists in a variety of duties to include, sampling, observations, training and inspections.
- Works with stakeholders in the organization during space planning, building expansions and/or other changes in facilities or work areas to ensure EHS requirements and regulations are met.
- Assists with root cause analysis when EHS incidents occur and recommends corrective action where environmental, health and safety hazards exist.
- Responsible for monitoring and driving sustainability initiatives.
- Senior professional with strong knowledge of job area and broad knowledge of project management.
- Manages complex projects or processes with general oversight.
- Communicates within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures.
- Makes moderate to substantial improvements to systems and processes.
- Contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on the departmental results.
- Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments.
- Assists in accident investigations and recommends corrective actions.
- Conduct routine audits and inspections to identify and eliminate non-compliance issues.
- Manage projects related to energetics and safety; including participation in incident investigation, risk management, and process hazard analysis.
- Conduct training and communication campaigns to raise site-wide awareness.
- Serve as interface and liaisons with employees, manager, customers, auditors, and regulators.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant EHS experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related EHS experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related EHS experience.
- Experienced in OSHA 1910 General Industry.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in project management.
- Knowledge of standards, OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and ANSI including familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work within a high pressure and fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and analytical with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-function/cross-site teams.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Read and understand facility site schematics and building design plans.
- Knowledgeable in munitions, explosives, and energetic materials, and related disciplines, the effects of munitions, the means of preventing or reducing explosive mishaps, and the relationship between quantity-distance siting criteria and personnel safety.
- High level of communication skills and an understanding of escalation requirements to higher authorities.
- Experience and/or training knowledge of Confined Spaces, Fall Protection, Lock Out Tag Out, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety NFPA 70E and Propellant, Energetics & Pyrotechnics.
