About the role

  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring company environment, health and safety (EHS) programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental health and safety regulations.
  • Work to reduce company risk and liability in all aspects of EHS.
  • Assists in a variety of duties to include, sampling, observations, training and inspections.
  • Works with stakeholders in the organization during space planning, building expansions and/or other changes in facilities or work areas to ensure EHS requirements and regulations are met.
  • Assists with root cause analysis when EHS incidents occur and recommends corrective action where environmental, health and safety hazards exist.
  • Responsible for monitoring and driving sustainability initiatives.
  • Senior professional with strong knowledge of job area and broad knowledge of project management.
  • Manages complex projects or processes with general oversight.
  • Communicates within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Makes moderate to substantial improvements to systems and processes.
  • Contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on the departmental results.
  • Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments.
  • Assists in accident investigations and recommends corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine audits and inspections to identify and eliminate non-compliance issues.
  • Manage projects related to energetics and safety; including participation in incident investigation, risk management, and process hazard analysis.
  • Conduct training and communication campaigns to raise site-wide awareness.
  • Serve as interface and liaisons with employees, manager, customers, auditors, and regulators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant EHS experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related EHS experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related EHS experience.
  • Experienced in OSHA 1910 General Industry.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of standards, OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and ANSI including familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work within a high pressure and fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and analytical with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-function/cross-site teams.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Read and understand facility site schematics and building design plans.
  • Knowledgeable in munitions, explosives, and energetic materials, and related disciplines, the effects of munitions, the means of preventing or reducing explosive mishaps, and the relationship between quantity-distance siting criteria and personnel safety.
  • High level of communication skills and an understanding of escalation requirements to higher authorities.
  • Experience and/or training knowledge of Confined Spaces, Fall Protection, Lock Out Tag Out, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety NFPA 70E and Propellant, Energetics & Pyrotechnics.
