About the role
- Applies mechanical engineering principles to support, and maintain, L3Harris FOS product lines during design, development, and production
- Supports design, development, and testing of new products
- Interacts with a multidisciplinary design team
- Works within established design guidelines to ensure products meet or exceed customer specifications
- Supports production of existing products
- Works with manufacturing and quality to troubleshoot issues, document changes, and adhere to AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards
- Acts as lead mechanical engineer on various programs holding responsibility for ensuring designs and product performance meet customer specifications
- Applies configuration management principles to design documentation and technical data packages
- Generates, modifies, and interprets engineering drawings, specifications, compliance matrices, etc.
- Collaborates with engineering analysts to conduct finite element analysis on new designs
- Participates in failure investigations
- Prepares materials for internal and customer design reviews
- Devises design verification test sequences
- Participates in efforts to drive process improvements which increase efficiency and lower cost
- Supports active production including test fixture and tooling designs, product troubleshooting, document and drawing updates, process control improvements, and product design improvements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or other related Engineering field and a minimum 4 years of prior relevant work experience
- Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years prior relevant work
- In lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of prior related experience
- Professional experience with CAD software such as Solid Edge, SolidWorks, NX etc.
- Professional experience with GD&T application and interpretation
- Professional experience with dimensional stack-up/tolerance analysis
- Professional experience with manufacturing methods and design for manufacturability (DFMA)
- Must be able to obtain a US Security Clearance.
