About the role

  • Applies mechanical engineering principles to support, and maintain, L3Harris FOS product lines during design, development, and production
  • Supports design, development, and testing of new products
  • Interacts with a multidisciplinary design team
  • Works within established design guidelines to ensure products meet or exceed customer specifications
  • Supports production of existing products
  • Works with manufacturing and quality to troubleshoot issues, document changes, and adhere to AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards
  • Acts as lead mechanical engineer on various programs holding responsibility for ensuring designs and product performance meet customer specifications
  • Applies configuration management principles to design documentation and technical data packages
  • Generates, modifies, and interprets engineering drawings, specifications, compliance matrices, etc.
  • Collaborates with engineering analysts to conduct finite element analysis on new designs
  • Participates in failure investigations
  • Prepares materials for internal and customer design reviews
  • Devises design verification test sequences
  • Participates in efforts to drive process improvements which increase efficiency and lower cost
  • Supports active production including test fixture and tooling designs, product troubleshooting, document and drawing updates, process control improvements, and product design improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or other related Engineering field and a minimum 4 years of prior relevant work experience
  • Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years prior relevant work
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of prior related experience
  • Professional experience with CAD software such as Solid Edge, SolidWorks, NX etc.
  • Professional experience with GD&T application and interpretation
  • Professional experience with dimensional stack-up/tolerance analysis
  • Professional experience with manufacturing methods and design for manufacturability (DFMA)
  • Must be able to obtain a US Security Clearance.
