About the role
- Design and prototype new or modified RF and microwave components and subsystems.
- Develop active RF circuits (amplifiers, attenuators, etc.) for PCBs, hermetic modules, and integrated systems.
- Perform RF line-up design, modeling, and simulation using specialized software.
- Conduct qualification testing and document results, including antenna and EMI/EMC tests.
- Prepare and manage product design documentation, directly or through supervision.
- Coordinate with Procurement to source parts for prototypes and production.
- Contribute to formal quotations, bids, and customer design reviews.
- Provide specialist RF support to engineers and management.
- Participate in multidisciplinary project teams, meeting financial and time goals.
- Support manufacturing, testing, and internal processes (e.g., non-conformance reports).
- Attend R&D meetings and contribute to strategic technical direction.
- Recommend product improvements for quality, customer satisfaction, and cost reduction.
Requirements
- Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, specializing in RF/microwave/photonics.
- 4+ years’ relevant experience in RF roles.
- Skilled in active RF device design, control, and testing.
- Experience (preferred): antenna design, photonic systems, substrate and cavity filters, high-level RF system design.
- Proficient with RF modeling/simulation software (e.g., CST Microwave Studio, Microwave Office), including 2D/3D circuit and electromagnetic structure modeling.
- Proficient with PCB design software (e.g., Altium).
- Experience in production environments and product development.
- Competent in preparing design, test, and manufacturing documentation.
- Skilled in customer communication and requirement gathering.
- Adaptable and proactive in dynamic work settings.
- Hold current Commonwealth of Australia security clearance, minimum Negative Vetting (NV1).
