About the role
- Lead mechanical design activities for flexseal nozzles and solid propulsion systems and components
- Independently develop design concepts, 3D models and support the development of detailed drawings for the manufacture of parts
- Conduct trade studies and develop component specifications and procedures as required
- Interact with component analysis, manufacturing, project engineering, quality and customer support groups
- Plan and execute design tasks with limited general direction and work effectively within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment
- Participate in shop floor and production hardware processing at suppliers and internally
- Support engineering drawing and specification updates at configuration change boards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of directly related Mechanical Design experience
- Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of directly related Mechanical Design experience
- In lieu of degree, a minimum of 8 years of directly related Mechanical Design experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with CAD software tools (CREO)
- Knowledge of solid propulsion systems design and manufacturing methods
- Experience in flexseal nozzle design is strongly desired
- Experience with manufacturing methods is strongly desired
- Knowledge and experience in strategic booster motors, tactical rocket motors, and vectoring nozzles
