About the role

  • The SBS Business Unit Chief Engineer is responsible for delivering the technical, cost, and schedule performance of the engineering content for a program portfolio.
  • Build, develop, and lead approx. 65-person cross-functional engineering team to execute programs meeting requirements on budget and schedule.
  • Manage and lead a group of 4-6 Program Chief Engineers.
  • Maintain accountability of technical, cost, and schedule for project execution across the business portfolio.
  • Decision maker for high level / high impact engineering technical issues.
  • Planning and execution of product development, from proposal to product definition, production transition, and sustainment.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 18 years of prior related experience
  • 15 years of applicable experience in Aerospace and Defense
  • 10 years of experience leading cross functional engineering teams
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance, which requires US Citizenship
  • Experience transitioning development programs through qualification to production
  • Good working knowledge of Control Account Management (CAM) and Earned Value Management
  • Prior experience operating within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment
  • Bid/Proposal experience including technical volume writing and BOE review and approval
  • Program baselining experience including review and approval of WBSs, work packages, IMS and budgets
