About the role

  • Provide day‑to‑day support for DB2 and IMS applications, system environments, and runtime components
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to application execution, database access, SQL performance, and system behaviors
  • Work closely with application teams to plan and validate deployments, schema changes, SQL modifications, and new application rollouts
  • Support and review the creation, modification, and maintenance of DB2 database objects (tables, indexes, views, tablespaces, buffer pools)
  • Use SQL, COBOL, REXX, JCL, and Python to debug, automate, or enhance DB2/IMS application workflows

Requirements

  • 12+ years experience supporting DB2 or IMS applications in large mainframe environments
  • Strong knowledge of: DB2 application design and database object structures, SQL development and tuning, COBOL and REXX programming, JCL for batch job creation/maintenance, Python scripting (for automation and validation)
  • Experience consulting with application teams on design, performance, deployment, and execution
  • Good understanding of z/OS operational concepts, file systems, datasets, and batch scheduling
