About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Sample and test sugar beet seeds at each phase of the production process to maintain product quality
Conduct germination, purity, TKW, sizing, x-ray, moisture, genetic, plantability, stress, sample preparation, sample retention, and seed quality standards testing
Create, update, and follow Quality Control standard operating procedures
Maintain laboratory testing equipment
Perform data entry using multiple input tools
Train new and temporary employees on SOPs
Develop, support, and maintain working relationships with all departments
Work rotating shifts as needed, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays
Pull and store samples and mix soil using a forklift
Follow company handbooks, rules, guidelines, procedures, safety policies, and PPE requirements
Occasionally travel, drive, or operate a forklift on behalf of the business
Meet attendance requirements and perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or equivalent
Basic computer skills
Attention to detail and aptitude for multitasking
Ability to use forceps with keen attention to detail
Flexibility to work rotating shifts as needed
Ability to become forklift certified
Strong communication, organization, and team leadership skills
Ability to work in high and precarious places and safely cover multiple areas, including staircases
Ability to work in varied environmental conditions, including loud, hot, cold, dusty, and damp environments
Ability to work individually and within a team setting
Ability to frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
Required vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, plus ability to adjust focus
Bachelor's degree preferred
Proficiency in MS-based applications preferred
Knowledge of seed testing procedures preferred
Strong basic math skills preferred
Demonstrated experience analyzing data preferred
Valid driver's license preferred
