About the role
- Perform database engine installation, patching, upgrading, and maintenance
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain relational databases, data warehouses, and ETL processes using SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle
- Perform data analysis, data modeling, and data integration utilizing ERwin or similar data modeling software
- Develop stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support application development
- Automate system deployments and integrations with pipelines while applying orchestration and high availability principles
- Secure database environments according to NIST and DHA standards, including encryption and application of STIGs
- Create and manage database creation, user management, maintenance, and security & password management
- Create backup, restoration, and recovery of application systems including configuration files, settings, processes, permissions
- Execute archive and data retention tasks to migrate data between tiers of storage
- Responsible for testing and installation of all IAVA compliance items
- Perform troubleshooting, tuning, problem diagnosis, and problem resolution as needed
- Coordinate with staff and management to deliver training and presentations and communicate with government personnel
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for a security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline
- 15+ years of experience as a Database Developer or Administrator applying FedRAMP and/or FISMA standards in a federal government agency environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership experience in team settings (previous leadership experience highly desired)
- Comprehensive knowledge of government policies, procedures, and regulations
- Demonstrated experience working in a government I.T. environment
- Proven experience with storage management, database performance tuning, configuration & parameter management, problem diagnosis & resolution, and disaster recovery
- Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle
- Experience with data warehouses and ETL processes
- Experience with ERwin or similar data modeling software
- Ability to develop stored procedures, functions, and triggers
- Familiarity with cloud-based database platforms like AWS or Azure
- Experience automating system deployments and integrations with pipelines and applying high availability principles
- Knowledge of NIST and DHA standards, encryption of data at rest/in-transit/in-use, certificates, STIGs
- Ability to create backups, restoration, and recovery procedures
- Experience executing archive and data retention tasks to migrate data between storage tiers
- Experience testing and installing IAVA compliance items
- Experience performing troubleshooting, tuning, problem diagnosis, and problem resolution
- Active Security+ certification preferred
